In the anime realm, the cult classic Sword Art Online/Alfheim Online, and to some extent, Accel World animes has boosted the popularity of MMO and virtual reality gameplay ideas. As technology is getting quite advanced, with holograms being toyed with presently, we’re getting closer to obtaining tech brought to life by pop media. Oculus Rift is one such tech that promises immersible virtual reality, sans nervous system integration (like in Sword Art Online/Accel World). Unfortunately, the projected release date, which was supposed to allow people to have these cool headsets by the holidays, have been postponed until March 2013. The reason for the delay is to implement new changes and modifications before mass production, one of which is for changes in the display. The display is now a 7-inch display with 1280×800 resolution, which is a change from the first version, which would’ve been a 5.6 inch display. Also, the device is now an estimated 30 grams heavier than the version pre-change.
