Anime series are dropping one-by-one, eh? Well, this year, Gurren Lagann (a.k.a. one of the most manly animes in the world) is officially ending sometime this year, according to creator Kotaro Mori. The manga is set to ship out by the end of the Gurren Lagann television re-broadcast, which starts on January 5th, 2013.
The series does have a rather long history (though not as long as big-boys Bleach and Naruto of course), and with its history, a cult following. The manga launched in April 2007 in Mediaworks’ Monthly Dengeki Comic GAO! magazine, and then later moved to Mediaworks’ other magazine, Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh in 2008. In terms of North American localization, Bandai Entertainment brought over the first six volumes of the manga, but stopped production and distribution in January 2012.
